Literature Text

I awake as the rooftops turn to gold
and watch the crimson sunset into dusk.
I walk beneath the stars, bow to the moon,
unafraid of the darkened, sleeping streets.
My ears grow sharper as my dark eyes dim,
my world is made of shades and secret sounds:
soft whispers from a bedroom; a prowling
feline’s cry; watching eyes circling above
sirens howling across the miles - not all
nightwalkers are so quiet as I - yet
the gliding hunter is my friend, not theirs.
I smile to hear its hidden metal voice.
Then, as the birds call in the smooth grey light
before dawn, I sleep, and dream of twilight.
I tend to go to bed in the early morning and sleep until early afternoon, which, at this time of year, is just before sunset.

This is beautiful! All of your work is magnificent, it has a certain pull to it that just makes you want to envelope yourself in the surroundings you write about.
