Saw this quiz on :iconkrayt1138: 's journal and decided it might be interesting (to me, anyway...)

1. Soooo... What's your character's name?
I have many, but I guess I'll do this for Pelana.

2. Now what's his/her 's damage? There must be something wrong with the (wo)man.
Lets see... Depends which book you mean, it gets worse as you go on. From the start though: Husband dead, child stillborn, womb damaged so she can't ever have any children.

3. Anything good about your character?
Dangerous in battle, up close or from a distance. Brilliant tactical mind and natural leadership skills. Plus she's a mean gardener. :P

4. What's your character's world like?
Pre-industrial, pagan, beautiful, unfortunately currently torn by conflict.

5. Does he/she have any significant others? Would he/she make an ideal partner for anyone?
No. She loves her friends unconditionally, but romantically she's never loved another since her husband's death.

6. What does your character do when he/she is upset?
Tries to find a way out of the upsetting situation. Or if there is no way out, she might pray or just cry for a while.

7. What kind of occupation does your character have?
Well, she was a gardener, but then she becomes an archer (and the leader of the most dangerous bunch of women her world has ever seen).

8. What is your character afraid of?
Illness. Not surprising given it kills a lot of people in her world (including her husband).

9. Is your character satisfied with who he/she is?
Mostly, yes. She was a little bored before the war (she's too damn smart for gardening) but once she's being challenged, she's happy.

10. What's your character's idea of a good time?
Pottering around the garden making things grow, then doing some archery practice with her friends. Or, at the other end of the scale; out-thinking an enemy in order to triumph over improbable odds.

11. Your character is alone in a restaurant, starving to death, and someone's left a delicious juicy burger behind. He/she knows it's somebody else's because the person wrote a note asking your character NOT to eat the burger. What do they do?
Eat it. Duh. Survival first, apology later.

12. Actually, your character wasn't alone in the last question. He/she just notices a police officer is watching the burger rather intently. In fact, it's probably the police officer's burger. What would your character do now?
Depends. If it was a city guard, and he was hungry too, she'd share. If it was a Special (evil dudes from 3rd book)she'd kill him, and rifle his pockets for more food.

What would your character do if he/she..
1. Had to fight off a pack of five-year olds?
Keep them back, gently, or maybe run away. She likes children.

2. Was stuck in a foreign country where he/she didn't speak the local lingo?
Avoid the people and head for the border, or get by with hand gestures etc.

3. Was hit by a basket of Atlantic salmon?
Thank the Gods for a free lunch.

4. Had to save the world?
Been there, done that. Well, her country at least, and that pretty much counts as her world.

5. Was dropped into the middle of a busy street in the modern world?
Be terrified and intrigued at the same time. And probably wonder if Morgana had given her funny mushrooms again...

Does your character like…
1. Stripclubs? No such thing. She's not keen on brothels though.
2. Birthdays? No such thing, unless you cound Year day, and she likes those a lot (yay, alcohol!).
3. Sunsets? Loves them.
4. Flesh-eating diseases? Hates and fears.
5. Democracy? No such thing, or not in her country. She agrees with it in principle, but doesn't think Jarda needs it.

Would your character ever…
1. Get Facebook? Nope. She keeps her friends close, and her enemies dead.
2. Be loved? Sure, all the time, just not in a romantic way.
3. Read Shakespeare? She'd love it.
4. Breakdance? No chance. She's a fair dancer though.
5. Push someone into a swamp? Yes. It's a common prank among her friends. And for an enemy, yes, because it would give her an immediate tactical advantage. (Plus it hides the bodies really well...)

Gah, I got tagged!

I got tagged by :iconinkwazsilver: . I have to tell you all 8 random things about myself, then tag some people to do the same. I did this meme about two years ago, and it's amusing how out of date most of it is now. :)

1. I am a Francophile (Before you get the pitchforks out - that doesn't mean that I stalk French children, it just means that I really like France :P ). I'm even doing my second year at Uni in France.

2. I love animals. My cat died a few weeks ago, and I keep going and stroking random cats on my street because I miss having a pet so much.

3. I have a Pilot's licence, but no Driver's licence, so I can fly a helicopter, but I can't drive a car.

4. I tend to stay up very late and go to bed at around dawn. It's nice - not as many people bug you at night, and I get to see the sunset and the sunrise.

5. I like games. Computer games, console games, World of Warcraft, table-top games, roleplay games, outdoor games, whatever. They're all fun.

6. I don't like people. There are a few important friends who I would give everything for, but the rest of the population make me uncomfortable.

7. I don't do girly stuff. Makeup, clothes and celebrity culture bore me to tears. Comfy clothes, usually green or dark colours, messing about in the woods or blowing things up on the computer. That's more like it!

8. I am a SPAG Nazi. Lazy typing errors and badly used English make my skin crawl. It's your natural language, people, get it right!

So, I have to tag some people. I'll tag :iconkrayt1138: and :iconice-blue-rose: because I want to see what they'll say. :)

Montpellier!

Yay! I got into the Erasmus programme! Unless I fail my end-of-year exams, I'll be studying at the Universite Paul-Valery (Montpellier III) next year. It isn't the university that I applied for, but who really cares?! South of France, woo!

My parents have now gone away, and will be away for the next two months (Yes!). The only downside is that they've left me a huge list of things they want done, including: landscape the garden, get a new bathroom fitted, scrub the whole house from top to bottom and keep control of my sister (yeah, right...).

I'm working on a couple of projects at the moment, when I should really be working (what's new?) but probably nothing that will be posted here.

In other news, my cat is STILL alive and smellier than ever, convincing me that he stays alive purely out of vindictiveness, bless him...

Oh, and check out this website: [link] . It's a load of reviews of films, websites, books and stuff, and it's especially cool because you can request a review of anything you want. Go look, then tell your friends, lol!

I've spent most of the last three days in bed, first with a migraine, (which I actually ended up at the eye hospital with because it made me go blind - this scared the hell out of me...) and then with a pain-in-the-ass cold which snuck up on me. I hate this. I'm rarely ill, and then I get two things at once. Grrr!
Additionally, I missed my French exam (to determine whether I can go abroad to study next year) because I was ill, and I'm worried that having to do it later will count against me. Meh, I'm paranoid...

Other stuff: I went and saw Watchmen the other day, and was impressed by how closely it stuck to the book (except when they changed the end to make it more simple). However, though the film was good, it couldn't really express the true brilliance of the book. For those of you who haven't, get a copy and read the graphic novel. I know it's expensive, but the sheer depth and thought provoking nature of the thing mean that it's like no other book you'll ever read. This is far from the stereotypical children's action comic. (I'm going to shut up about this now, as I suspect I sound like a raving fan...)

Also, if you're going to the cinema, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The International are both good films.

Oh, and I read a good book the other day. It's called Picking Up The Brass, and it's about the British Army in the 1980s. It's full of squaddie mischief and amusing stuff (anyone who's read ArRSe will know the sort of stuff I mean) and it's worth a read if you're interested in military stuff or joining the military.

More other stuff: I read ThornyEnglishRose's post about Script Writing month in her journal, and despite the fact that it isn't actually April yet, the muses bit me. I've never written a play before, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm twelve pages in already, but at this point it's 0445, and I need to go to bed because I'm starting to go blind again. (Shiiiiiit...) This play is the longest thing I've written in absolutely ages, and I may or may not post it when it's finished, or when each act is finished.

Anyway, enough of this. I have to sleep. Zzzzzzzzz

So, the most awesome thing has happened: I've got the opportunity to fly co-pilot on an R44 delivery flight from England to Brno in the Czech Republic. May I just take a moment to say, AWESOME OUTSTANDING ACE WIN *squeeeeee* WOOHOO YAY! :XD: :XD: :XD:
Ahem... Anyway, yes, we (two other pilots and I) are leaving at 0700 tomorrow (What does the 0 stand for? O my God, it's early!) and we're going to fly all day, alternating pilots/navigator and stopping for fuel every few hours. We'll fly to the south coast, cross to France and then into Belgium, where we'll land and clear customs, then go across Germany and into the Czech Republic, hoping to reach Brno by the evening.
If things don't go quite to plan then we'll stop overnight in Germany and continue on Wednesday.
If things REALLY don't go to plan, we won't make it (I doubt it, but merde happens). We'll all be wearing life jackets, but ditching into the channel is still not recommended for your health, lol!
I really hope it all goes well, because it's such a brilliant thing to do, and also because these guys do a lot of these delivery flights, so if I don't screw up it may be a real help to my career. Fingers crossed. :D
Oh, and if it does go to hell and I end up in hospital, remember you promised to visit... (you know who you are, monsieur).
